What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files that are sent to your computer or mobile phone from a website's computer (server) and stored on your device's hard drive.

Cookies do lots of different jobs, like letting you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, and generally improve the user experience. They can also help to ensure that adverts you see online are more relevant to you and your interests.

Cookies used on the TCBL Open Platform

The TCBL Open Platform consists of this website and of a number of partners’ online service portals (see list here). The cookies we use can be categorized as follows:

1. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential to enable you to move around the website and use its features, such as accessing its secure areas. Without these cookies, some TCBL services you may have asked for cannot be provided. Thus, no consent is required to use them.

2. Performance related cookies

These cookies collect aggregated, and thus anonymous, information on the pages visited by you, in order to improve how the website works. For instance, these cookies determine which web pages you go to most often, and if you get error messages while doing so. Never do these cookies collect information that identifies a visitor, only on the way he or she uses the website.

If you keep on surfing the TCBL Open Platform after reading this text, we assume that you agree that we can place this type of cookies on your device.

3. Functionality related cookies

These cookies allow to remember some of the preferences you have expressed in the past (such as on the language of the interface used, or changes to text size, fonts and other parts of the website that can be customized). This helps to facilitate or improve your experience or enable the provision of services you have asked for, such as watching a video or commenting on a blog. The information these cookies collect may be anonymized and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.

If you keep on surfing the TCBL Open Platform after reading this text, we assume that you agree that we can place this type of cookies on your device.

4. Targeting or advertising cookies

These cookies collect information about your browsing habits in order to make advertising more relevant to you and your interests.

Thus, they record your visit to a website, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed, and this information may be shared with other organizations. They can also be used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.

These cookies are usually placed by advertising networks with our permission. At the moment, no such a kind of cookies exists on the TCBL Open Platform, but in the future there can be some. However, it is important to note that at no time do we or our service providers attempt to identify you individually nor do we create a profile of you, or the pages you have viewed, for the purposes of delivering advertisements.
