Shemakes Club

The shemakes club is a working ground that stems from the Horizon 2020 shemakes project (Jan 2021-Dec 2022).

To extend the impact of the many EU-funded projects in which the TCBL Association and CEDECS-TCBL are involved, all the communities we are developing within our varied projects are invited to continue the conversation in clubs or working groups under the TCBL umbrella. The shemakes club will address gender equality issues in the textile and clothing industry through a series of online and offline events focused on maintaining and expanding the network established during the project, as well as continuing the fertile discussion of and action on issues identified.

2026 online meet-up

When: Wednesday February 11, 2026, 16:30 CET

Who: all TCBL Association member labs

In the context of the shemakes club, which extends the gender-related activities of the shemakes project, we're holding an online meet-up for the shemakes labs who are now part of the TCBL Association, and we're happy to extend this to all our labs. The purpose of the call is to rekindle collaboration and to spark curiosity, as well as to discuss any pressing themes or issues we're dealing with in our everyday work, be it related to gender or technology or anything else.

Participating labs are asked to confirm their attendance by writing an email to Alexandra (amkstudioeu at gmail.com); you'll receive a link to a document (and instructions, no worries!) where you can include the updates you wish to communicate, and we'll also send you the link for the meeting. Invitations will also be circulated by email.

Past events

Spring 2024

Shemakes-related themes were included in the session on "Community Engagement" of our online session "Flip Fashion" in the New European Bauhaus festival satellite events (april 2024).

Fall 2023

The shemakes Club held an online session, in collaboration with Fabricademy, dedicated to updates from the community on recent projects and inclusive actions. Valentine Lévy, project manager at Universal Love, presented a very interesting opportunity for designers interested in using recycled materials to participate in an international contest related to the 2024 Olympic Games. Curious? You’ll have to join us to find out more!

Summer 2023

An invitation only update was held for shemakes partners, labs and ambassadors to discuss latest news, opportunities, events and projects and gather new insights on "Bridging the gender gap" in the T&C sector.
