TCBL Days 2023

The annual event about ingredients for sustainability in the textile & clothing industry

Connecting networks for sustainability
14—30 Nov 2023

Sustainability is multifaceted: there is no one-stop solution or simple recipe to make the textile, clothing and fashion industry truly sustainable right now. Real sustainability can only be achieved through a holistic vision in which all of the ingredients for sustainability come together and reinforce each other.

Each year at TCBL Days we focus on some aspect of these ingredients. For 2023 we’re looking at how to connect silos in education and training, research and innovation, and business models.

  • November 15 / education and training. What is the range of models in textile, clothing and fashion education? Looking at Master's degrees to vocational training, we'll consider hands-on action learning to cross disciplinary barriers, address gender equality, and promote Industry 4.0 and industrial transitioning.
  • November 23 / research and innovation. Can we connect two disparate fields, that of bioeconomy with the circular textile industry? Members of projects involved in both will be participating in a conference in Iasi, Romania so we've united them in a roundtable discussion.
  • November 30 / business models. What are the challenges and opportunities for collaboration between the different sectors of fashion? In this online roundtable, leading figures in the field will address the real sustainability of the four main fashion areas: fast, luxury, environmentally sustainable and socially responsible fashion.

TCBL Days draws on on-going work in recent and current EU-funded projects: Herewear (local bio-based fibres and fabrics), shemakes (creating a gender innovation ecosystem, ended Dec. 2022), and Transitions (training for Industry 4.0 and industrial transitioning). The hybrid and diffused events will provide inspiration, case studies and opportunities to meet with people leading the way in the sector.

And like every year, we'll be having weekly TCBL Jams: one-hour sessions featuring a rapid sequence of 5-minute pitches from TCBL community members, followed by open discussion.

All events will be live streamed on TCBL's YouTube channel.
